Last weekend, Leon and I stumbled upon the Saturday Morning Market in downtown St. Pete. The market is open from 9AM to 2PM down by the waterfront near Al Lang Field. The market is filled with local growers, coffee roasters, crafters, food trucks, you name it!
We perused the aisles, looking at all of the neat goods that each vendor was offering. I couldn’t get over the prices of the fresh fruits and vegetables. An entire carton of blueberries for $5! Score! There was also a great spread of freshly made pastas. Each pasta had a recipe to go along with it. What a great idea!
After looking around for a while, our stomachs began to grumble, we were on a mission to find breakfast. I saw the cutest little food truck serving up homemade crepes. Seriously, how can you go wrong with a Nutella crepe for breakfast? It was AMAZING!
Leon opted for a pulled pork sandwich from a local cuban restaurant. He raved about how delicious it was! With our bellies full, we needed coffee pronto!
We decided to try a “new to us” cafe called Bay Coffee and Tea Company. They were serving up all natural and organic coffees and teas.
We checked out the menu. They had a huge selection of different hot and cold drinks. They also had two fresh roasts of the day; Peru (medium roast) and Cubano Bay (dark roast).
Since it was so hot outside, we decided to go with two iced coffees. The sweet lady at the counter took our order and we checked out the different bags of coffee while we waited.
They had a small counter on the side of the trailer with different types of cream and sugars. As we prepared our coffees, we noticed that the ice cubes were made out of coffee. How brilliant is that!?
The coffee was absolutely delicious. It was a perfect medium roast! I’m pretty sure we guzzled these down in record time. I was half tempted to go back and order another…
The best part of the coffee was those ice cubes! Typically, ice cubes will water down an iced coffee, but these cubes helped keep the flavor in tact. And once they melted….we had a few more sips of the delicious joe to savor!
It was such a fun morning walking around the market, trying new food, and drinking delicious coffee! We can’t wait to visit again soon!
