Inside the Box: October Edition

October Coffee Club Box

We are so proud of the box that we put together for our members this month! We included a past favorite, No Name Java, and welcomed two new roasters to the Tampa Coffee Club family: Mazzaro Italian Market and Bay Coffee & Tea Company. The box features three palate pleasing coffees; a full body Cafe Solar Honduran, a bright Columbian Supremo Medellin, and a light Kimel Estate AA Papua New Guinea.

Bay Coffee October

Bay Coffee & Tea Company: Cafe Solar Honduran

  • Roast Level: French (Dark)
  • Notes: Toasted Caramel, Syrup
  • Process: Natural

About the Coffee: Perfectly balanced between full body and pleasing acidity. Toasted caramel aromas combined with a sweet syrupy texture contribute to a lasting finish. This Honduran coffee is processed using renewable energy.

About the Roaster: Bay Coffee & Tea Company is an organic coffee retailed/roaster in the Tampa Bay area. Founded in 2004 by Herb Colvin, the company roasts and retails high quality, sustainable, organic, fair trade coffees from growing regions around the globe. In 2013, Bay Coffee became an alliance partner with the Mesoamerican Development Institute, the developers and patent holders for the only solar drying system for coffee beans. Our exclusive solar dried coffee is Cafe Solar; which is the coffee you will be trying this month.

Mazzaro Coffee October

Mazzaro Italian Market: Colombian Supremo Medellin

  • Roast Level: Full City (Medium)
  • Notes: Chocolate, Fruit
  • Process: Washed & Sun-dried

About the Coffee: Medellin is located in the northwestern highlands of Columbia, not far from the Panama boarder. The area and climate are ideal for growing coffee. Temperatures average 73 degrees and the volcanic soil is well drained. This coffee provides a medium body with a clean finish. It is balanced with bright acidity and a smooth after taste.

About the Roaster: At Mazzaro’s we take coffee seriously. We know good beans and roast some of the best coffee in Tampa Bay everyday. Mazzaro’s Coffee Roasting and Italian market started over 20 years ago as a small batch roaster by Sam and Patricia Cuccaro. It turned into a full service gourmet market shortly after. Sam’s philosophy is to pay a little extra and purchase the finest quality beans from trusted brokers that he has had long-term relationships with. He roasts the beans in small batches for freshness and to ensure the best cup possible when you take it home.

No Name Java October

No name Java: Kimel Estate AA Papua New Guinea

  • Roast Level: City+ (Light-Medium)
  • Notes: Honey, Cherry, Key Lime
  • Process: Fully-washed

About the Coffee: Papua New Guinea coffee is grown along the Wahgi River at elevations above 5,000 feet. The coffee trees grow amongst Albizzia berry trees, which lend the coffee beans their sweet, fruit-like essences and unique flavor. We light-medium roast the beans to produce a smooth-tasting and well-balanced cup with a crisp, clean finish.

About the Roaster: No Name Java proudly imports and roasts only the highest quality Specialty Grade Arabica coffee beans at the lowest market prices. No brand names, no fancy packaging, and no gimmicks. Just good coffee! No Name Java is family owned and operated. Their specialty coffee and flavored coffee varieties have supplied countless Gourmet Coffee Shops and Specialty Retailers over the years. No Name Java promises customers the best, freshest, and lowest priced coffee you will find anywhere.

We hope you enjoy the coffee this month as much as we do! For more information about the roasters we work with, please visit our Local Roasters page.
